How to protect your hair overnight

Waking up with frizzy, flattened waves is a common frustration for us wavies.

Overnight, our hair is susceptible to friction, moisture loss and tangling. Leading to damaged and unruly waves by morning.

So how do we maintain soft, defined waves while we sleep?

Satin or Silk Pillowcase

The key to protecting your waves while you sleep is minimising friction. Friction can cause your hair to frizz. Cotton pillowcases absorb moisture and create friction.

Satin or silk pillowcases are much gentler on your waves. They help to retain moisture and reduce frizz. They provide a smoother surface for your waves to move freely.

Loose Pineapple Bun

Sleeping with your hair down can cause your waves to flatten or get tangled. Tossing and turning causes friction, which disrupts your wave pattern.

Gather your hair at the top of your head in a loose pineapple bun. This keeps your waves intact. The hair is prevented from rubbing against your pillowcase. This avoids flattening or frizz. Use a soft scrunchie to avoid leaving a dent in your hair.

Hydrate your hair

Apply a few drops of our Wavy Hair Oil to the ends of your hair before bed. It’s designed to seal in moisture, preventing dryness and frizz overnight.

It’s fatty acids coat the hair strands, locking in moisture and strengthening the hair.
