The Importance Of Scalp Health

5 problems and solutions

A healthy scalp is the foundation for beautiful hair. Yet it's often forgotten about.

So in this blog you'll discover what happens when you neglect your scalp and how to keep it in tip top condition.

5 common scalp problems...

1. Dandruff and flaking

An unclean scalp can become a breeding ground for yeast and bacteria, leading to dandruff.

2. Hair loss

Poor scalp health can weaken hair follicles, leading to hair thinning and loss.

3. Scalp infections

Neglecting scalp hygiene can result in infections such as ringworm or fungal infections. Leading to redness, swelling and even pus-filled sores.

4. Dryness & itching

Failing to moisturise your scalp can lead to dryness, tightness, and persistent itching.

5. Grease & oil buildup

An unwashed scalp can become oily and greasy, leading to a heavy and weighed-down feeling. This can also clog hair follicles, hindering healthy hair growth.

5 tips for a healthy scalp

1. Use a gentle shampoo

Clean your scalp regularly to remove dirt, oil and product buildup. Use a gentle, sulphate-free shampoo to avoid stripping your scalp of natural oils.

Massage the shampoo into your scalp to boost circulation and promote healthy hair growth.

2. Keep it hydrated

Drink plenty of water and use products that contain jojoba oil and glycerin to help maintain your moisture balance.

3. Clean your hair tools

Dirty hairbrushes and combs can contain bacteria, which can cause scalp infections.

4. Use a scalp brush

The bristles of a silicone scalp brush exfoliates the scalp by removing dead skin cells and excess oil.

This helps improve blood flow and keep the scalp clean. Preventing issues like dandruff and flaking.

5. Clarify

If your hair is super greasy, then it's worth hitting the reset button by using a clarifying shampoo. This'll remove product buildup, excess oil, and impurities from the scalp and hair, leaving them clean and refreshed.

Make sure to deep condition post clarifying, as your hair will be super dry.
