How to protect your hair during summer

We all know to wear SPF on our skin.

But many of us forget about our hair and scalp.

Too much sun can dry out your strands, fade colour and even burn your scalp.

Over time, this can lead to breakage, thinning and frizz that won't budge.

But the good news? It's easy to avoid with the right care.

Scroll for our tips...

1. Wear a satin-lined hat

A hat is the easiest way to shield your scalp and strands.

But not all hats are wave-friendly.

Standard cotton or rough fabrics rub and cause frizz.

Our satin-lined cap protects your scalp from sun exposure whilst maintaining your wave definition.

Its open-back design even works with high ponytails or buns.

2. Use a UV protection spray

Your hair needs SPF too.

A UV protection spray creates a lightweight barrier between your strands and the sun’s rays.

Look for sprays with nourishing ingredients like aloe, coconut water or vitamin E.

They hydrate and protect, without weighing your hair down.

Top tip: Reapply after swimming or sweating. Just like you would with skin SPF.

3. Rinse and rehydrate

After a beach or pool day, rinse your hair with fresh water as soon as you can.

This removes salt, chlorine and product build-up.

Stopping your hair from drying out even more.

Follow up with a deep conditioning mask to restore lost moisture and smoothness.

4. Cover your parting

Your scalp is super sensitive.

Especially the exposed skin along your parting.

That area can burn fast and start peeling.

Causing pain and leading to flaking and irritation.

Protect it by:

  • Wearing your hair up in a bun or braid
  • Switching up your parting
  • Spritzing on a scalp SPF. Lightweight mists or powders are great for this

Sun protection isn’t just for your skin.

A few simple changes can help your hair look and feel its best all summer long.
