3 Spring Styling Tips For Wavy Hair

Spring can be a tricky time for hair care. The weather is less cold and windy, more sunny and dry (hopefully). This means we're outside more. Which is an incredible chance to unleash our natural waves and show them off in their full glory.

Here are 3 top tips on how to embrace your waves true potential this spring…

1. GET A HAIR CUT

Winter weather can take a toll on your hair. Piping hot showers, hats, central heating and using drying tools can make your hair dry, frizzy and prone to split ends.

Which is why it's essential to book in a Spring trim to transform your locks from dull and lifeless to healthy and shiny.

Adding some layers in will add volume and definition to your waves. Making it easier to style during the warmer months. A cut can also remove any dead weight, which enhances your waves shape, making them more bouncy and volumous.

2. AIR DRY

In the colder winter months, it's very difficult to dry your hair without the assistance of a diffuser (it would take me all day). Yet now Spring's here, I'm going all in on air drying.

Allowing your hair to dry naturally can enhance the natural texture of your waves, creating a more effortless look. It allows your waves to be formed naturally without being disturbed.

It also eliminates the need for using any heat on your hair, even if it's on a low heat setting. Which as we know, can cause long term damage to our sacred locks.

Let your waves lose. Let that warm spring breeze do the work for you.

3. KEEP YOUR HAIR HYDRATED

Banging the same drum here, but it's important to remember…the key to incredible beach waves is keeping them deeply hydrated.

Dry hair is more prone to frizz, especially in hotter, humid weather. Hydrated hair on the other hand is more resistant to frizz and will stay soft, manageable and healthy.

Make sure you're using a deep conditioning mask once or twice a week to fuel your hair with the moisture it needs to stay hydrated. Then apply a few drops of oil to seal that moisture into your hair strands and prevent it from escaping.

Your hair will become more elastic, which means it's less likely to break or become damaged. It will be able to withstand the stresses of environmental factors like sun exposure and wind.

Sexy summer waves begin in spring. Use healthy products free of silicones & sulphates. Ditch the heating tools. Let your natural hair do its thing and you'll achieve that effortless undone, cool girl beachy look.
