1. Only use lightweight products

Most women treat their wavy hair as if it’s curly. Curly hair requires strong gels, alongside heavy butters and oils to retain their curls definition. Yet these ingredients will cause havoc for us wavies!

Wavy hair craves lightweight ingredients. Too much gel and your hair will become a weighed down gunky unmanageable mess.

Want that soft, bouncy appearance? You need to use lightweight, silicone & sulphate free products.

2. Scrunch in mousse to create definition

A lightweight mousse is a game changer! Scrunch it into your hair post wash to lock your waves into a cast.

Mousse provides volume by adding lift at the roots. This creates space between the hair strands which enhances your waves shape and definition.

It’s also non-greasy. Which will create a softer, shinier appearance.

You can also use it for refreshing instead of gel.

3. Keep your waves hydrated

Wavy hair is prone to dryness. Causing brittle hair strands, breakages, tangles and frizz.

To prevent this your waves must be constantly hydrated. I use bucket loads of Merwave Repair conditioner. It's packed full of hydrating ingredients like Glycerin that nourish and detangle your hair. Leaving it feeling soft and slippery.

Then use a natural oil to seal in your moisture and add shine. The oils fatty acids will lubricate your hair strands, making it harder for them to become brittle.

4. Use silk accessories

Cotton pillow cases create havoc. They absorb your hairs moisture and cause friction. Resulting in frizzy, dehydrated, shapeless waves.

Use silk pillowcases, scrunchies and hairbands instead.

Your waves definition and shape will be maintained for much longer. You can also style your hair at night and wake up with beautiful waves.

5. Detangle in the shower

Do not brush wavy hair when it’s dry. It causes stress which can lead to breakages.

Instead, saturate your hair with conditioner so it feels like slippery seaweed. Then detangle in the shower.

You want your brush to glide through your hair. This will remove any tangles without causing long lasting damage.
